Senior leader of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar on Saturday said the central committee of his party will inform Governor Mridula Sinha about withdrawal of the MGP’s support to the Pramod Sawant government by April 18.

Even though Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had removed Dhavalikar from his cabinet, the MGP had not withdrawn its support letter to the government.

“The MGP central committee has already taken such a resolution,” Dhavalikar told ‘The Navhind Times’, pointing out, “I, as the lone MGP member of the state legislative assembly, have been given powers to take decisions in the House.”

“I will decide on party’s future course of action in the state legislative assembly after the April 23 elections in Goa,” he added.

Dhavalikar said the resolution of the MGP central committee states about withdrawing issue-based support to the Bharatiya Janata Party government.

“Earlier, whenever the MGP extended its support to the BJP, the support was

for a particular person as the chief minister,” he maintained, observing that this time around, the MGP had decided to support the government of a party, instead of government of an individual as the chief minister.

“I am more hurt because the MGP had respected the BJP and given letter of support in the name of the party, instead of in the name of an individual, in this case Pramod Sawant,” Dhavalikar mentioned, stating that he is genuinely hurt due to what the BJP leaders did to him and the MGP.

Dhavalikar also maintained that although the MGP has extended its support to the Congress candidates for the Lok Sabha election in Goa, the MGP leaders have not climbed the Congress platform.

“It is the Congress leaders, who climbed the MGP platform on April 12,” he added, pointing out that he is now holding a public meeting in Ponda, and the Congress leaders are welcomed to join the same, as the BJP leaders did in the past.
