PANAJI: Goa speaker Rajesh Patnekar on Tuesday, refused MLAs’ demand for hard copies of the answers for the 20-day monsoon assembly session starting July 15. The Goa assembly has been paperless for many years. “Paperless means paperless, we cannot go back,” said Patnekar.
Patnekar said that as of Tuesday his office had received 409 starred questions and 893 unstarred questions, for what would be the longest assembly session till date. This will be the first full-fledged assembly session after chief minister Pramod Sawant took up the reins of the state. The government will have to address various issues from resumption of mining to the unemployment rate. Congress has said it will corner the government.
Patnekar held a business advisory committee (BAC) meeting on Tuesday to finalize the agenda for the session. He said that on the first three days, the MLAs would speak on the thanksgiving motion of the governor’s speech. “Two days have been kept aside for general discussion and the remaining days will have discussion on demands,” he said.
According to him, the office had not received any intimation from the government over the bills that would be introduced in the assembly.
