Speaker of the state legislative assembly Rajesh Patnekar on Monday granted a week’s time to Deputy Chief Minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar to respond to an application filed by Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar seeking interim relief vis-a-vis the disqualification petition.

voting and attending the proceedings of the monsoon session of the assembly, which is scheduled to begin on July 15.

“The respondents’ counsel sought one week’s time to file a reply to the rejoinder to the disqualification petition filed by Dhavalikar…  I have allowed it… even the petitioner’s counsel is okay with it,” Patnekar while said briefing media persons after completing the hearing at the state assembly complex.

He informed that four weeks’ time has also been granted to the respondents to file their reply to the main petition filed on May 3 by Dhavalikar seeking disqualification of both of its former MLAs after they ‘merged’ the legislative wing of the MGP into  the BJP.

Later, Azgaonkar and Pauskar were sworn in as ministers in the BJP-led coalition government in the state.
