PANAJI: Old Goa police arrested three persons for abusing, wrongfully restraining, threatening with dire consequences and attempting to assault social activist Kashinath Shetye on Monday. Police inspector Jivba Dalvi said that according to the complaint received, on June 30 at 12.30pm, Shetye saw two vehicles parked in such a way that they blocked the road.
He tried to click pictures on his mobile, to send to the Traffic Sentinel app and responding to this, three people present in the vehicles allegedly threatened to kill him. Later in the evening, when Shetye was visiting a religious place, one of the accused came and restrained him, abusing and attempting to kill him.
Police immediately registered the offence under provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused were identified as Irshad Ahmed, Salman Hussain, both residents of Chimbel, and Shahid Khan Pathan, resident of Indiranagar. Their vehicles were also seized.
