Maintaining that “state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Vinay Tendulkar is not concentrating on capturing both the Lok Sabha seats and three assembly seats for the party, and instead focussing on intimidating me into leaving the party,” senior BJP leader Laxmikant Parsekar said that he would however not reach any rash decision until the BJP announces its candidate for the Mandrem by-election.

“Today, Tendulkar has lost his focus and seems to be least bothered about getting party’s candidates elected at the Lok Sabha polls, so that Goa makes some contribution in bringing the Narendra Modi government back to power at the Centre,” Parsekar said, pointing out, “the state BJP president somehow wants me out of the BJP and Sopte contesting from Mandrem”.

“If Tendulkar had any sense of electoral politics then after looking at the response to my meeting of the committed BJP workers from Mandrem, last week, he would have dropped his idea of fielding Sopte from the particular constituency,” he observed.

Taking strong objection to the recent statement of Tendulkar that “Parsekar has breakfast with Congress, meets Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party president Deepak Dhavalikar for lunch and in the evening sits with BJP office-bearers,” Parsekar charged the state BJP president of blatantly lying.

“That particular day, I had breakfast with my wife, who has nothing to do with the Congress,” Parsekar informed, pointing out that when he visited a city hotel

on the same day for lunch, he met Dhavalikar, who had also come to have a meal, and exchanged pleasantries with him, which had nothing secretive about it.

“And then, in the evening, I had pre-scheduled dinner with Sanjiv Desai and Satish Dhond, which also is an open secret,” he stated, noting that the state BJP president is acting in an undignified manner with a person, whom everyone in Goa, across the party lines, know as one of the founders of the party in the state.
