Panaji: Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's Indian project Beyond the Clouds will open the 48th edition of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) on November 20. Oscar winner AR Rahman and Indian filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who have collaborated with Majidi for the film, are expected to be present for the screening.

Argentinian filmmaker Pablo Cesar's Thinking of Him has been selected to close the festival on November 28. He will present the world premiere of the film along with the star cast at the closing day of the festival.

"This is my second time at Iffi. The first time it was a retrospective of my earlier films. I am very happy and curious to see the reaction of the audience because this is the first time the film will be presented to Indian audiences," Majidi said.

Goa is hosting Iffi from November 20 to 28.

Majidi's film is believed to be the first by a prominent foreign filmmaker to have been shot and produced entirely in India, engaging an Indian producer and a complete Indian cast and crew.

Beyond the Clouds focuses on a brother-sister relationship and the story unfolds against the backdrop of Mumbai. The film includes dialogues in three different languages—English, Tamil and Hindi.

While Rahman has composed the music for the film, Bharadwaj has written the Hindi part of the script.

Cesar's Thinking of Him, an Indo-Argentian production, is a story set both in the present and the past. It is based on the bond shared by Rabindranath Tagore with Argentine feminist writer and cultural activist Victoria Ocampo. The film stars Victor Banerjee, Eleonora Wexler, Hector Bordoni and Raima Sen.

"My heart was conquered by Iffi in 1994 when I was invited to screen my third long feature film. Now I am here with my 11th film, happy and anxious. Iffi invites us to get excited with the world premiere of this film." Cesar said.
