Executive committee of Goa Forward Party (GFP) has resolved that its three ministers should keep up the pressure on the government to implement the common minimum programme (CMP) that was drawn by the ruling coalition one year back.

The first meeting of the newly-appointed executive committee of the party was held on Tuesday wherein various issues including implementation of common minimum programme of the coalition government were discussed.

Addressing media persons on Wednesday, GFP vice president Dilip Prabhudesai said that the party has expressed happiness over the performance of its three cabinet ministers. He further stated that the ministers have succeeded in completing groundwork for implementing the party’s agenda in last 16 months.

“The party has asked the three ministers to keep up the pressure on the government to implement the common minimum programme in remaining tenure. We are confident that the government will achieve success in implementing it in the days ahead as it had done in restoring status of tree to coconut,” he added.

He further said that the party fully backs the Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai, who is also a president of the party, in his thrust on zero budget natural farming and appreciated his stand that agriculture should be part of the common minimum programme.

Prabhudesai further informed that the party has supported the proposal of Sardesai to bring an amendment to the Town and Country Planning Act as regard to Regional Plan-2021 in order to give relief to the common man.

The general secretary of the party Prashant Naik said that GFP has also reiterated its stand on resumption of mining activities in the state at the earliest.

“Lakhs of people have been affected due to closure of mining operations in the state. GFP demands that the government should see that mining is resumed immediately post monsoon,” he added.

GFP has also discussed the draft notification of Coastal Regulation Zone 2018 and it has decided to take its stand on the issue once it gets feedback from the stakeholders.

“We have decided to meet the stakeholders including fishermen to take feedback from them on CRZ draft notification as some feel that it will benefit them while some others in the fishing community fear that it will affect their livelihood,” the party maintained.

Chief spokesperson Trajanno D’mello said that the party has taken a stand opposing simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state assembly and that the party president has made a strong case before the Law Commission of India in New Delhi.

When questioned about the stand of GFP on the statement made by its MLA and minister Jayesh Salgaonkar that he wants to see a chief minister from the Bhandari Samaj in near future, Naik stated that it is his personal opinion and everyone has a right to express opinions.
