Mapusa: A US national identified as Daniel Thomas Belier, 68, was found dead at rented premises in Anjuna on Thursday night, police said. Belier had come to Goa around six months ago and was involved in artistic pursuits. Police said that since the last few days Belier was not keeping well.

Police said that on Thursday at around 10pm Belier was found lying on the floor of the house.

Sources said that he had called one of his friends saying that he was feeling unwell. But, by the time the friend arrived, he had collapsed, sources said.

On noticing that he was not responding, neighbours called the 108 ambulance service. After examining him, the ambulance staff declared that he was dead, police said.

Anjuna police were informed about the incident and they rushed to the site and conducted a panchanama. The body was sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital morgue at Bambolim for postmortem.

Sources said the US consulate was informed about the death.

Anjuna police have registered the case as unnatural death and are investigating the case.
