Three minors held for theft cases in Ponda

Panaji police on Monday detained three minor boys who were reportedly involved in theft cases in Ponda. Police have attached two two-wheelers, mobile phones and digital cameras all worth Rs 5 lakh.

According to police, the three minor boys were intercepted near the KTC bus stand in the city at around 11 am. The boys were moving on a two-wheeler, triple seat. When police inquired about the vehicle, they were unable to provide the vehicle documents. Later, when the two-wheeler was checked, police found mobile phones in the dickey of the two-wheeler for which the boys had no explanation, however they later revealed that the mobile phones were stolen from a shop in Ponda.

Subsequently upon the disclosure of one of the boys, police attached other stolen items from his house in Ponda. Implements which are reportedly used in committing the theft were also attached, police said.

The minor boys will be lodged at Apna Ghar at Merces, informed police.

Meanwhile, Ponda police have said that a mobile phone shop was reportedly burgled on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday at Upper Bazar Ponda. A complaint in this regard was lodged by the shop owner. The thieves decamped with thirteen mobile phones, mobile vouchers worth Rs 3000 and Rs 25,000 all worth Rs 1.50 lakh.
