‘Sulabh toilets services must be disabled-friendly’

Margao: Taking cognizance of the number of complaints with regards to poor maintenance of Sulabh toilets in Margao, the deputy collector and sub-divisional magistrate Uday Prabhudessai, on Thursday, chaired a meeting of the consumer network forum, GOACAN, Sulabh management, civil supplies, and the health department.

The Sulabh toilets management was directed by Prabhudessai to make all the toilets disabled-friendly, and to ensure that they are well-maintained.

The management was also asked for an explanation over complaints pertaining to overcharging by the personnel manning the toilet blocks, and told to ensure that the malpractice be stopped.

While the health department was asked to conduct periodic inspection of all the Sulabh-managed toilets with regards to their maintenance, the civil supplies department was asked to conduct inspection pertaining to signages at the toilet blocks, wearing of uniform by Sulabh personnel, etc. and submit a compliance report.
