Panaji: A wheelchair user working as an upper divisional clerk for the government at Junta House in Panaji has written to the state commissioner for disabilities over the two non-functioning lifts at Junta House.

While lift 1 hasn't been functioning since July 2016, lift 2 hasn't been out of order since October 23 this year. The other two lifts are in a working condition, but experience frequent breakdowns. In his letter, the complainant states that he has no direct access to the lifts, and in order to reach his work place he is forced to use the lift right up to the 6th floor, pass through Swami Vivekanand Hall. From there, he is forced to swallow his pride and "take the help of at least 4 to 5 persons to be carried down and up along with my wheelchair from the 6th floor to the 5th floor and vice versa," he states.
