Panaji: Chief minister, Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said that a hole at the bottom of M V Lucky Seven has delayed its removal.

Speaking to Reporters at Miramar after paying tribute to the first chief minister of Goa, Dayanand Bandodkar, Parrikar said the priority of his government is to remove the vessel from the beach. "It will be removed soon. Government is concerned about its removal," he said.

"Since the vessel has developed a gapping hole, pulling it at this stage will not be the right option. It may sink after moving a distance of two to three metres," he said. "Once the hole is plugged, the vessel could be removed safely,'' Parrikar said.

When asked whether Panajikars fired salvos at him on the casino vessel during his byelection campaign, he said none asked but media.

Recently, the Goldenglobe Hotels Pvt Ltd had sought permission from the government to tow away the vessel to the sheltered areas of Mandovi.

The vessel has been grounded at Miramar beach since July 16 after it hit a sand bar at the Mandovi river mouth while it was being taken inland during the peak monsoon season.

Goldenglobe is a venture of Haryana minister, Gopal Kanda. He had written to the Captain of Ports to allow him anchor the vessel in safer waters of River Mandovi, but was refused permission.
