Panaji: Agriculture minister Vijay Sardesai recently urged Goans to set up horticulture stalls to sell local produce and promised state government support for their endeavours.

"It is up to Goans to set up agricultural sheds and units and export the same to other states. The government of Goa will give full support to set up the unit," he said, speaking at a financial literacy programme in Savoi Verem organised by Reserve Bank of India, Panaji in association with Ramanata Crisna Pai Raikar (RCPR) School of Agriculture. "The government plans to establish agriculture estates on the lines of industrial estates and provide one acre of land to promote horticulture and floriculture, help boost agricultural production and make Goa self-sufficient," he said, adding that the produce will be procured by the government at appropriate prices.

ICICI Bank also put up a stall at the venue to exhibit new notes of Rs 200 and Rs 50 denominations besides one, two and five-rupee coins.
