Margao/Vasco/Mapusa : State Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Narendra Sawaikar said that Goa has benefited from the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to Reporters on the sidelines of ‘Seva Saptah’ and distribution of safety equipment to frontline warriors to mark the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Modi, Sawaikar said since the BJP came to power in 2014, Goa has benefitted immensely, be it on the education front-NIT and IIT setting up campus, or in terms of infrastructure development, be it roads, bridges etc.

He said the Prime Minister today has emerged as a world leader and led the Indian resurgence through bold administrative and economic reforms.

The BJP, meanwhile, informed that as part of the ‘Seva Saptah’ the workers would interact with people at the grassroots level and the party along with its other organisations will also distribute fruits, vegetables and other essentials to the citizens.

Meanwhile, Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho on Thursday said that the state government will procure 100 electric buses, funded under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) of the Ministry of Urban Development.

“The state government is in the process of procuring electric buses in Goa and as buses are likely to arrive in the state next month, the commissioning of first lot of 25 buses will be done either in the month of November or December,” said Godinho adding, “The state government is planning to procure more such buses to replace old ones.”

Godinho was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a blood donation camp organised by Dabolim BJP Yuva Morcha in association with Dabolim BJP Mandal at Keshav Smriti High School hall at Alto-Dabolim as part of week-long ‘Seva Saptah’ celebration to mark 70th birthday of Prime

Minister Modi.

Calling Prime Minister Modi a visionary leader, Godinho said, “The Prime Minister has taken decisions in the interest of the nation. Due to his capabilities, he is now considered as a world leader.”

Minister for Urban Development Milind Naik stated that he will take opinion of advocate general (AG) to commission the much-awaited market project at Headland-Sada due to the restrictions laid down by the Navy within the radius of 4 kilometres for construction activities.

He was speaking to media on the occasion of cake cutting ceremony to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, organised by Mormugao BJP at Headland-Sada on Thursday.

Minister for Urban Development informed that “The market project at Headland-Sada was taken up at the cost of Rs 8 crore. The construction work is completed, but some internal works are yet to be ready. I will take advice from the AG to commission the market project as there are restrictions laid down for construction activities within the radius of 4 kilometers by the Navy.”

“I will also consult and take opinion from the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) and Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chief officer before inaugurating the project,” he said.

A cake weighing 70 kilogram was cut on the occasion of 70th birthday celebration of Prime

Minister Modi in the presence of Naik.

Similarly, the North Goa District BJP office bearers along with Mapusa MLA, Joshua D’Souza celebrated PM Modi’s 70th birthday by cutting a cake in the district office in Mapusa. Besides, Aldona BJP Mandal also held a tree plantation drive in Nachinola and distributed fruits at old-age homes.

On the occasion, a cake cutting ceremony was organised at North Goa district BJP office wherein all office bearers were present including Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza and civic chairperson Ryan Braganza.

North Goa district BJP president Mahanand Asnodkar said that the party has planned various programmes in all constituencies of North Goa “to show our love for the PM.”
