Mapusa: A judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court at Bicholim granted conditional bail to Satyajit Shetye, 27, and Ravindra Divkar, 29, both residents of Bicholim, who were arrested for allegedly possessing an unlicenced firearm, without a barrel.

Shetye and Divkar were intercepted by a traffic police sub-inspector while they were travelling on the two-wheeler. They were arrested under the Arms Act and were remanded to two-day police custody. The police opposed the duo's bail application and submitted that the investigation in the case is in the preliminary stage and thorough investigation was required to recover other parts/barrel of the firearm.

Police said that accused persons might be involved in hunting wild animals as the type of firearm found in their possession is usually used for hunting wild animals. Court granted the bail on the conditions that applicant shall execute personal bond of Rs 20,000, shall not threaten the witnesses and shall not leave the state of Goa.
