Panaji: Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the chief electoral officers to conduct a special drive for one month, beginning July this year, to enroll new electors, with special focus on first-time voters in the age group of 18-21 years.
The election commission's office will begin preparatory work in June, where the chief electoral officer, district electoral officers and electoral registration officer will statistically analyze the electoral rolls published in January 2017, to find out the major gaps in terms of gender ratio and age imbalances.
During the drive, Form 6, for inclusion of name in the electoral rolls can be submitted at the electoral registration office, either by post, or through online submission on the national voters services portal.
Booth level officers will visit the houses of each electorate to collect Form 6. The door-to-door visits of block level officers will take place between July 1 and July 31, and disposal of forms received until July 3,1 will be done by August 31.
The election commission's office will run state call centre services and district call centre services, on the same line of the national call centre. Special campaigns will also be organized, the dates of which will be announced later, at polling stations where booth level officers will provide and receive Form 6 from applicants.
