Margao: Brahmeshanandacharya Swami, head of Kundaim Shree Kshetra Tapobhoomi mutt, has emphasized the "crucial" need of a productive dialogue between the different faiths in order to avoid conflicts and for development and progress.

"Only having understanding and proper communications will avoid conflicts between different faiths and it will also discourage peace destroying institutions from taking advantage of the differences between communities, which in turn will bring about global peace," he said, while addressing an international conference 'Samvad II: Dialogue for Peace, Harmony and Security - A Global Initiative for Conflict Avoidance and Environment Consciousness' held at Yangon, Burma.

The swami was invited to speak at the event as the Hindu representative from India. The conference was organized by The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF, New Delhi), Sitagu International Buddhist Academy (SIBA, Yangon) and The Japan Foundation in collaboration with Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS, Yangon).

The event was a follow-up of the Samvad Initiative held at Delhi in September 2015 "to expound, articulate and deepen the philosophic understanding on the two issues of critical importance to the world - to shift the paradigm from conflict resolution to conflict avoidance, and environmental regulation to environmental consciousness," a press note from Tapobhoomi, the headquarters of Padmanabh Shishya Sampradaya, states.
