Loutolim: What is common to Albert Einstein, Narendra Modi, Mother Teresa, Diego Maradona, Rajnikanth, Bill Gates and Mahatma Gandhi?

All of them are left-handed or 'lefties', and now their busts are on display at the 'World Famous Left Hander Museum' at Ancestral Goa's, Big Foot museum, in Loutolim.

An initiative by the, 'Indian Left Hander Club' founder and president, Sandeip Vishnoi, this museum is modelled on the lines of the famous UK-based, Madame Tussauds. It will be inaugurated on August 13 (marked as the International Left Hander's Day) by art and culture minister Govind Gaude and deputy speaker Michael Lobo.

On the occasion, 100 meritorious left-handed students from schools in Goa will be felicitated, Vishnoi said, urging all left-handed Goans to attend the programme.

The museum pays tribute to 20 renowned 'lefties' through bronze-coloured busts, such as, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, Brian Lara, Barack Obama, Amitabh Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha, as well as Ratan Tata, Albert Einstein, Narendra Modi, Olympic bronze medalist Mary Kom, Mother Teresa, Diego Maradona, actress Marilyn Monroe, superstar Rajnikanth, Bill Gates, Asha Bhosale, Oprah Winfrey, comedian Charlie Chaplin and entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg. These busts are have been sculpted by Sunil Devre from Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The museum boasts of being the first kind in the world and features interesting facts about lefties.

Speaking exclusively with STOI, Vishnoi said that through the museum he wants to change public perception towards left-handed individuals. "My aim is to highlight the fact that individuals are left-handed because their brain is right-dominant, while it is opposite with right-handed people. I also wish to tell parents to stop forcing their left-handed children to write, eat or perform activities with their right hand," said Vishnoi, who shares this trait with his wife, Rashmi and eldest daughter, Sara.

"Goa was chosen to house the museum as it is an international tourist destination. The Big Foot museum attracts two-three lakhs of tourists annually. A special premiere of Abhishek Bachchan's movie Lefty directed by Prabhudeva, which will be released in December this year, will be screened at the museum," Vishnoi said. He is also busy preparing for his Hindi reality TV show Lefty Got Talent!
